My passion for cbm:
I’m delighted to be back in the Christian international not-for-profit sector. Knowing that every minute somebody in the developing world gains their sight thanks to cbm supporters’ funding is an inspiration to continue to do our work. Our supporters are loyal and passionate about our work and I value the opportunity to connect with them and thank them.
My experiences that affirm this belief:
Justine’s story of a life transformed from one of crawling on her knees since having her feet amputated as a baby, to one of being able to stand tall and proud on her new prosthetic legs, playing football with her friends and the simple act of now being able to reach the blackboard at school, has touched me deeply. Her father used to work short hours as a labourer as he had to carry her to and from school and look after her at home. Now he is able to earn a full day’s wages as Justine walks to school with her friends. This story is a reminder of how many lives are affected by disability and the impact that intervention has on the lives and livelihoods of all members of the family.
